Description: This paper starts with a discussion of the new tendency of promoting Chinese language teaching globally and raises a crucial question: How to train qualified Chinese teachers who are able to work in a multicultural environment? Based on the current situations of training Chinese teachers at universities in China, the paper is tackling with a few key issues in the recommendation of establishing a program for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages by comparing the similarity and difference with an overseas program of Chinese teacher training. It reveals the importance of research on teacher education in other countries and the values of their experience to innovating the training of teacher of Chinese as a second language in China.
