- Description
- In order for values education to become part and parcel of mainstream schooling, especially in public systems, the closest possible links need to be found between it and the world of teachers and schools. Teaching, once a profession whose systems focussed preponderantly on the more academically selective portion of the population, especially towards the top end where the more academically gifted set the practical benchmarks for goals, objectives and outcomes, is now a profession whose systems have to find the point of relevance for education of all comers because the social agency role of schooling has expanded beyond even the very lofty goals of its foundation advocates.
