- What is the evidence on the management of an eye prosthesis? The eye is a vital organ not only in terms of vision but also being an important component of facial expression. The loss of an eye has a crippling effect on the psychology of a person. Treatment of such cases includes implants and an acrylic eye prosthesis that gives individuals professional and social acceptance and alleviates problems. There have been great advances in anophthalmic socket surgery with respect to implant material and wrapping of the implant with a prosthesis, and the management of surgical complications.
