Description: A number of developments for the description of the generalised behaviour of unsaturated soils are presented. They can be considered as extensions of the conventional elastoplastic models developed in recent years to simulate the stress-strain behaviour of this type of soils. The following topics are addressed: the consideration of coupled hydraulic models in a thermodynamical framework, the introduction of structural components in the modelling of expansive soil behaviour and the incorporation of temperature and chemical effects.
