- Description
- The move towards the more widespread use of electric motors in the automotive, rail, maritime and aeronautical industries has necessitated the need for robust, fault tolerant, control strategies within these safety critical applications. This paper investigates a range of faults, fault diagnosis strategies and fault mitigation strategies in brushless DC (BLDC) motors. The investigation has highlighted zero-sequence current injection as a high performance candidate for fault mitigation of multi-phase BLDC machines by utilising the harmonic content of the back EMF waveforms.
