- Research addressing the gendered organisation of time has shown that women carry a disproportionate burden of coordinating household schedules. However, little research has considered how these gendered inequalities may manifest in the context of the shift away from 'standard' work patterns and towards variable and non-standard hours. In this chapter we discuss a recent study that addressed this question using digital and interview methods with Australian young adults in heterosexual partnerships. Specifically, the participants were asked to make posts on a mobile phone app at least five times a day for a weeklong period and to then discuss their posts in an interview. This method gave insights into the participants' everyday lives and in-the-moment reflections, providing a means of interrogating the latent and implicit inequalities that, in most cases, manifest alongside the participants' gender egalitarian attitudes.
