- This paper attempts to overcome the known drawbacks of Finite Set Model Predictive Control (FS-MPC) and proposes an MPC-based AC drive with competitive performance to the existing industrial drives. The paper complements the traditional MPC approach with elements of classical control and feedback quantization (FBQ) principles. The proposed FBQ- MPC operates in dq-rotating frame, includes integral action and an advanced modulator. Subsequently, it offers improved tracking performance, low sensitivity to modeling errors and disturbances, low harmonics and low EMI, making it an attractive solution for various applications. Findings of the paper are validated by extensive simulations and experimental results.
