- Description
- Matrix Converter is an attractive choice for motor drives with weight/size restrictions and high efficiency requirements, such as mobile mining vehicles. However, the use of Matrix Converters requires addressing the problem with input resonance. Variable length of the trailing cables used with mining vehicles makes the existing solutions for input resonance suppression ineffective. This paper addresses this problem by proposing and analyzing two solutions for input resonance suppression in Matrix Converters: a solution based on the output spectrum shaping, and a solution based on a direct synthesis of the optimal switching matrix. The paper shows that both solutions achieve the goal, but have different implications for practical implementation. The results are supported by extensive simulations.
