- Description
- Oceania is a region characterised by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with great environmental challenges due to climate change, ecological degradation and globalisation. Food security, agriculture and fisheries, waste management, and environmental governance are the primary trade-related environmental challenges, with environmentally-friendly trade governance made all the more difficult by resource and capacity constraints and power politics. Global commitment to advancing environmentally-friendly trade law remains the most effective mechanism to facilitate environmental conservation and harm minimisation in this vulnerable region.
