- Description
- A Semi-Interlocking Masonry (SIM) system has been developed by the Masonry Research Group at The University of Newcastle, Australia. This is a system of seismic resistance for framed structures with masonry panels. SIM panels have the capability of dissipating energy during earthquake excitation through the friction on sliding joints between courses of units. The main objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the out-of-plane load-displacement capacity of SIM panels, and predict its capacity using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Attempting to introduce several ANNs to predict the maximum displacement of the SIM panels lead to find the best network. The results show that ANNs have the ability of accurate prediction the maximum displacement of SIM panels. In addition, the outcomes of feature selection algorithm help to arrange the most effective factors on maximum displacement to optimize time, safety and cost of projects.
