- 1 SUMMARY OF WHAT IS NEW/DIFFERENT: The guide to the distribution of macronutrients has been updated and re‐enforces healthy eating patterns; The importance of meal‐time routines with limitations on snacking has been emphasized in order to improve dietary quality and optimize glycemic outcomes; The impact of dietary fat and protein should be considered in the calculation of the meal‐time insulin dose and how it is delivered; Continuous glucose monitoring is a useful tool for educating both the clinician and young person with diabetes on food related behaviors and the impact of specific meals on glucose levels.
