- All three components of the velocity and vorticity vectors, along with the fluctuating temperatures, were simultaneously measured, at nominally the same point in the flow, with an eight hotwire vorticity probe and four cold-wire probes. The phase-average data unveils that the spanwise velocity is greatly influenced by the rib-like structures. A 3-D conceptual model is proposed for heat and momentum transport, which complements the previous 2-D model and provides physical insight for the role the rib structures play.
