- Description
- In this chapter: I discuss my experience of introducing critical pedagogy into an MA course in an elite University. I critically interrogate the assumed resonances and compatibilities between critical pedagogy and institutionally recognised (and produced) 'critical' subjectives. I conceptualize and analyse the relative openness and closure in student subjectivities to a critical pedagogy committed to multiplicity, horizontalism and 'otherness'. I develop a pedagogical pragmatics (Gillespie et al. 2002) in light of my reflections. Talk about what this has taught me in thinking about what critical pedagogy as political project actually represents. I conclude with a discussion and analysis of student experiences of this teaching.
