- Description
- In this chapter the authors reflect on their experiences of participating in practitioner research, initially from their respective positions as academic, manager and teacher, and subsequently on their shifting roles as they become collaborative co-researchers in ongoing action research. The chapter is written as a reflective boundary-crossing conversation about their early experiences in an intial umbrella participatory project which became known as the Jean Denton project (Newman & Mowbray, 2012), comprised of five distinct practitioner groups, and their later experiences within the Curriculum Renewal Group (CTG), which was one of the five initial groups. The chapter focuses on the CRG and also provides a brief outline of the umbrella Jean Denton project to establish the context for the origins of the CRG and subsequent discussion. The CRG was made up of staff located within a large local government-based early childhood education organisation in Western Sydney, Australia, and focused on reconceptualising curriculum through action research cycles.
