- This paper describes a pilot plant investigation of Bayswater fly ash slurries where the flow behavior of the slurries was investigated in respect to the effect of solid concentration, pipe size and flow velocity. A re-circulation pipe loop configuration with instrumented pipes of nominal bore of 80 mm and 53 mm was used for measuring the slurry flow parameters. Fly ash from Bayswater power station with an average d50 of 23.8 μm was used as solid phase, with water as the carrier liquid. Slurry mass concentration reached 67.9 % and shear rates up to 200 s-1.
