- Description
- Background: Globally, over 200 million school-age children are estimated to be overweight or obese. Poor childhood diet and physical activity behaviours increase the likelihood of childhood and adulthood overweight and obesity. Educational strategies aimed at modifying dietary and physical activity behaviours are frequently used to prevent and manage childhood obesity but inconsistent effects have been reported. Aim: This systematic review aimed to determine whether school-based and/or family-based educational interventions can treat or prevent childhood obesity in school-age children (6–12 years old), when compared with usual care or no intervention.
