- Description
- Along with the increasing penetration of renewable energy, network power flow will be significantly altered in terms of direction and magnitude. Therefore, with the advent of wind power, distribution systems would have locally looped networks with bi-directional power flow, which may impose serious implications for network power quality, protection settings, and etc. Storage facilities can provide a number of benefits that will help with the integration of large amounts of wind power, such as capacity firming and load shifting. In this paper, an optimal allocating scheme for battery energy storage device in distribution system is proposed. The energy storage system can be used to absorb the curtailed wind power in order to avoid violating system constraints, to alter the energy usage patterns, and to reduce the system power losses. Detailed case study is given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
