- Description
- In the context of transatlantic relations the last few years have lent some credence to that most hackneyed of expressions: "time heals all wounds." Not long ago, half of Europe was up in arms against the United States, enraged by the "War on Terror" and the American-led invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Today, things seem to be returning to normal: the heat of the controversies has subsided, those responsible on the American side are out of office, and, just as importantly, the attention of the international public has drifted towards other issues, first among which the global financial crisis and its aftermath.
