- We show here that one of the 5-phosphatases, PIB5PA(phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate 5-phosphatase A), is frequently down-regulated, or lost in metastatic melanomas, which is correlated with activation of Akt, and contributes to proliferation, survival, migration, and invasion of melanoma cells
