Description: In terms of expanding organizational capability, there is an increased expectation and demand for employee development. For an employee to become more self-directed there is an increased need for interpersonal skills. In this context, there is a growing recognition that learning based practices such as workplace coaching can satisfy this need for skill development. Despite this, in the coaching literature there is no explicit discussion of learning practice from an adult learning perspective. In this article we review the potential synergy that exists between adult learning and workplace coaching literatures from an organizational perspective.
