- Description
- The dimensionless mean energy dissipation rate parameter Cε is measured in a fully rough wall turbulent boundary layer at several Reynolds numbers using hot-wire anemometry. The study aims to determine the dependence of Cε = ̅εL/u′³ on the distance from the wall and the Reynolds number. The results shows that Cε decreases as the distance from the wall increases and reaches a minimum value, which appears to be independent of the Reynolds number. Further, this value, which is about 0.40.5, is the same as in homogeneous isotropic turbulence at high Reynolds numbers. This lends support to the possibility that a universal value for Cε at large Reynolds numbers cannot be ruled out.
