- Description
- Reliable flow in the pipeline is essential for practical pneumatic conveying. In dilute phase conveying, saltation velocity is commonly used to estimate the minimum conveying velocity. For dense phase conveying, there are no commonly used criteria for the prediction of minimum transport velocity. In fluidised dense phase pneumatic conveying material flow is characterised by a moving fluidised bed of material. By modelling the fluidised material as a continuum, a numerical solution can be computed to predict material velocity and bed height throughout a pipeline. A numerical model based on conservation of mass and force equilibrium is proposed which predicts the location of a blockage in a horizontal pipeline for this type of conveying.
